Emerson's Latest!

One year ago Ernest Emerson introduced his first in a promised series of knives to collectors. Available in different handle colors, blade configurations and finishes, the Ravens, as they are called, were more successful than he could have imagined. But no sooner did Emerson Knives, Inc. get rolling than they began development work on two distinctively different tactical folders; the SPECWARŽ and Commander.

These new knives are designed to fit the broad range of duties required of all tactical gear, including knives, and are a result of REAL world testing and performance feedback. The Commander features the Emerson "wave shaped feature" (patent pending), a device that turns it into the fastest deploying manual knife ever developed. The Commander is a production version of a Navy SEAL contract knife as supplied to the Navy by Emerson Knives (the custom branch). It is in very high demand among Special Operations personnel.

The SPECWARŽ folder is the official folding version of the SPECWAR fixed blade designed by Emerson.

Like the Ravens, these new knives feature textured G-10 handles and titanium liners. The blades are opened easily with a top-mounted knurled thumb button that offers ambidextrous use. We might add that all of Emerson knives have reengineered locking liner systems, for ultimate strength and load bearing capability.

Each liner spring features a textured edge where the thumb meets it for positive engagement. Both knives feature pocket clips and the blades are available with a satin, bead blast or Black-T finish.

Of the two new Emerson models, the SPECWAR is available with either a clip point or chisel (Tanto) point blade, 3.5 inches long. Overall length of both models is 8.3 inches Ground from ATS-34 stainless, the blades are .125inch (1/8-inch) thick. The clip point blade is flat ground on both sides, while the chisel grind is ground on one side only.

The Commander model is a bit longer than the SPECWAR, at 8.8 inches, as both its handle and blade are of greater length. The sweeping blade on this knife measures 3.75 inches, is also of ATS-34, is .125 inch thick, and is flat ground on both sides. It is not a chisel ground blade.
