Title
of Instruction: Surviving the Deadly Attack
Course
Length: 16 Hours (2 days) total
Course
Overview
The
course is designed to equip the officer with a familiarity and ability
to prevent, thwart and subdue a deadly force attack. Students will
be introduced to the concepts and principles of an aggressive attack
as they apply to actual physical confrontations. Officers will be
taken through a series of exercises and drills that allow them to
understand and "feel" how these concepts apply in physical
applications. The officers will then be taken through a series of
scenarios that replicate actual attacks. The student will be taught
to respond unarmed, (without weapons), and with various environmental
(Blunt Impact Weapons, Baton, Flashlight, Radio) weapons as available.
The
development of this course is based on a high stress platform, and
the techniques that are taught are designed to work in a gross motor
skills environment, where physical, physiological and psychological
parameters define what responses are actually possible. The emphasis
is on familiarizing, developing and promoting the natural, responses
that occur in a high stress environment. As a result the knowledge,
tactics and techniques learned, will support and not conflict with
any current training platform. Upon completion of this course the
student will be familiar with, and capable of a proper response to
a deadly attack.
