The Liberty stands as a bold tribute to the ideals of freedom and justice that define America. Chestnut, once abundant in American forests, was the backbone of early America. Chestnut trees flourished across Eastern North American and was the foremost lumber used for barns and homes in colonial America. It is a wood that has endured the tests of time and hardship — much like the spirit of liberty itself. The American chestnut tree once so abundant was driven to functional extinction by the Chinese Chestnut Blight in the early 1900’s and chestnut trees which once stood 100 feet tall and numbered in the billions, no longer grow in our forests.  All American chestnut wood is now only available as reclaimed lumber from those early pioneer barns and houses.  The Liberty is a knife that honors the principles of freedom, equality, and democracy that are at the heart of this nation.

With its handcrafted chestnut handle and razor-sharp blade, the Liberty from Emerson Knives is not just a piece of fine craftsmanship, but a statement of pride and patriotism. The Lexington Bowie (Walnut Handles)

The Emerson Lexington Bowie stands as a tribute to the birth of American liberty and the men who first stood their ground in its defense. Part of the Emerson Liberty & Freedom Series, the Lexington is built to honor the spirit of April 19, 1775, when ordinary citizens became warriors in defense of their freedom. The knife is fitted with handles crafted from American walnut, one of the nation’s most revered hardwoods, long associated with heritage, craftsmanship, and the tools of those who defended the country.

American black walnut has been prized for generations as the premium hardwood used in some of the most iconic American firearms, including the M-1 Garand, the M-14, and the legendary 1911 pistol. Its rich color and enduring strength have made it the wood of choice for rifle stocks carried by soldiers and patriots throughout American history. Because of this legacy, walnut has come to symbolize both American craftsmanship and the enduring resolve of those who have stood in defense of the nation.

The Lexington Bowie embodies that same spirit of quiet determination that defined the Minutemen on Lexington Green—men who answered the call to stand for liberty when the fate of a young nation was still uncertain. Built by hand, grounded in tradition, and dedicated to the timeless ideals of liberty, courage, and the defense of freedom, the Lexington Bowie carries forward that legacy in steel and wood. It is more than a knife; it is a tribute to the moment when history turned and a free people chose to stand their ground.

Each wood handle knife model was limited to 50 total knives.

• The first 10 wood handle knives (001–010) are Super Customs handmade by Ernest Emerson.
  
• The other 40 wood handle knives (011–050) were production versions.
  

Out of the 10 wood handle handmade knives:

• 001, 002, and 003 will not be sold by themselves. They will be kept and sold as matching sets across all models.
  
• That means only 004–010 were available for individual purchase.

A production run has also been made of each knife, which features black G-10 engraved with the American flag.

The Liberty and Freedom Collection from Emerson Knives stands as a tribute to the spirit that forged the United States of America. Created in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary, this series reflects the principles that built the country—courage, independence, sacrifice, and an unbreakable commitment to liberty. Each knife in the collection is more than a tool; it is a symbol of the American character, crafted to commemorate the men and women who stood for freedom when the future of the nation hung in the balance.

Liberty & Freedom Series – Limited Production Structure

Each knife in the wood handle Liberty & Freedom Series is produced in a strictly limited run of 50 pieces per model, built with the same iconic American hardwood handles that define this collection.

Within each 50-piece run, the first 10 knives (Serial Numbers 001–010) are not production pieces—they are handmade Super Customs, individually built by Ernest Emerson. These represent the highest level of craftsmanship in the series.

The remaining 40 wood handle knives (Serial Numbers 011–050) are production versions, built to the same design and specifications, carrying forward the character of the originals in a more accessible format.

From those 10 Super Customs, the first three serial numbers—001, 002, and 003—are never sold individually. Instead, they are reserved as matched serialized sets across all five models, creating an extremely rare collector offering.

This means that for individual collectors, only Serial Numbers 004 through 010 from each model will be available for purchase as standalone Super Custom knives.

In addition to the wood handle knives, each model was also made in a version with G-10 handles featuring a flag engraving.
